Why Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy is the next step if conservative treatments such as physiotherapy (exercises), rest, ice therapy and painkillers have already been tried. It is a minimally invasive treatment that is carried out on an outpatient basis meaning you can continue life as normal the same day. The Shockwave treatment in our East Sheen or East Grinstead clinics can offer relief from pain and other symptoms associated with chronic/ long term conditions.

Shockwave Therapy (Radial Extracorporeal)
Summit Wellbeing in East Sheen/ Mortlake offers Shockwave Therapy alongside other treatments. Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy applies pressure waves through the skin straight to the source of pain and discomfort. Extracorporeal means outside of the body. The shockwaves produced during treatment are mechanical and not electric; they are audible, low energy sound waves, which work by increasing blood flow and creating physiological changes in the injured area. This accelerates the body’s healing process. You will usually require a course of three treatments, one to two weeks apart.
Your initial Shockwave Therapy appointment in East Sheen includes a short clinical history & physical assessment then treatment lasting 1 hour. Treatments thereafter are 30 minutes.
